MKW is a registered ISO 9001 company and is assessed on a continuing basis by the British Standards Institution. In addition, MKW Engineering is an approved supplier to the Ministry of Defence, Marconi, Astrium and British Gas, among others.

Fabrication
Our qualified welders use TIG, MIG, Sub-ARC Spot and MMA welding techniques, employing the latest equipment. We are experienced in the use of new procedures for welding specialist alloys for offshore and other applications.
Our large fabrication halls covering 3,800 square metres, with overhead cranes capable of lifting 30 tonnes.
Materials are prepared using the latest Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) equipment.
The fabrication facility is backed up with a comprehensive paint plant, offering wet spray, powder coating, infrared and gas stoving.
MKW Engineering boasts a comprehensive range of the latest Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) and conventional machinery.
Machining Capacity
CNC milling - CNC machining centres from 800mm through to 4,000mm. All CNCs have universal heads and can be used in both horizontal and vertical positions. In addition, there are two production batch machines with 24 tools each. Total capacity 600 hours per week.
CNC horizontal boring - One-off Union CNC Borer capacity 2,000mm x 1,600mm x 1,600mm
CNC turning - Up to 400mm diameter by 2,000mm long, capacity per week 240 hours.
Vertical boring - Two machines, one 48-inch diameter, one 72-inch diameter, both with copying attachments and digital readouts.
Horizontal boring - One conventional horizontal borer complete with digital readouts, capacity 1,600mm x 1,250mm by 1,250mm.
Conventional equipment - A comprehensive range of conventional machining including milling, grinding and turning.
All machine shops have overhead cranes that can handle loads of up to 7 tonnes.
Five-axis machining - The state-of-the-art Intergrex 1060v is a CNC vertical turning centre with full configuration CNC milling and drilling, and a capacity of 1,500mm by 1,500mm.

Assembly
MKW Engineering has comprehensive assembly facilities at its Ryton site. The 500 square metre assembly shop enjoys crane access and is fitted with three roller shutter doors, allowing the entire area to be partitioned off to suit clients' individual requirements and ensure confidentiality.
All assembly is conducted by experienced time served mechanical and electrical technicians and the entire work is handled on a project basis.
